Why specialise in cancer?

After qualifying in 2004, I worked as a specialist dietitian at Kings College Hospital, one of London’s largest teaching hospitals, and developed and led their specialist haemato-oncology cancer service.

During my early career as a dietitian, I saw how little nutrition support was available for people with cancer. Then, in 2007, after I had been a dietitian for four years, my mum was diagnosed with bowel cancer while I was pregnant with my daughter.

Suddenly, I was on the other side, seeing firsthand how confusing and frustrating it could be to navigate food and eating through cancer treatment.

I used everything I had learned as a dietitian to help her manage surgery, appetite loss, and taste changes during chemotherapy. That experience shaped the way I work today. My approach combines professional knowledge with deep empathy for what people go through during and after cancer.

After supporting my mum through her treatment, the trust I was working in at the time had funding for a Macmillan dietitian. I knew straight away I wanted to take this opportunity to specialise further.

After years of working as a Macmillan dietitian, I set up my private practice to provide the kind of personalised, evidence-based nutrition support I knew that people needed.

Cancer nutrition should be practical, realistic, and free from fear

My approach is:

Evidence-based

Everything I recommend is backed by science, not trends or myths.

Personalised

There is no one-size-fits-all “cancer diet”. I help you find what works for you.

Sustainable

No extreme restrictions, just a way of eating that supports your health and fits your life.

Whether you’re struggling with fatigue, weight changes, digestive issues (like stomach cramps, diarrhoea or constipation), or just uncertainty about what’s best for your health, I can help you feel confident in your food choices.

What’s the next step?

You don’t have to figure this out alone. If you need clear, expert guidance on cancer nutrition, I’d love to help.
